1. Who we are
CivicCars is operated by CivicTrustAU Pty Ltd (ACN 000 000 000), an Australian company headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland (the “Operator”, “we”, “us”).
2. What CivicCars is — and what it isn’t
CivicCars is a verification-first online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of motor vehicles in Australia. CivicCars is not a party to any vehicle sale contract, an authorised credit representative, an insurance broker, or a motor dealer. Vehicle sales are formed directly between the buyer and the seller.
3. Eligibility
- You must be 18 years or older and an Australian resident to create an account.
- Sellers must be the legal owner of the vehicle they list, or an authorised representative.
- Dealer accounts must hold a valid motor-dealer licence in their state of operation.
4. Listings & fees
Standard private listings cost A$1 entry + A$9 CivicCars Verification Pack. Boosted private listings cost A$25 per listing. Dealer subscriptions cost A$499 per month. Fees are inclusive of GST. The A$1 entry fee is refunded if your listing is rejected during moderation; the Verification Pack and listing fees are otherwise non-refundable once the PPSR check has been run.
5. CivicPoints
CivicPoints are a closed-loop credit usable across the CivicTrustAU ecosystem (CivicCars, CivicTrucks, CivicBikes, CivicBoats, CivicCaravans). One Australian dollar buys ten CivicPoints (A$1 = 10 pts). CivicPoints are not money, are not redeemable for cash, and are not transferable to other users.
6. Acceptable use
- No fraudulent, misleading, or unverified listings.
- No off-platform handoffs aimed at circumventing fraud protection.
- No harassment, hate speech, or unlawful conduct in chat.
- No automated scraping of listings or contact information.
7. Trust-Bridge & partner referrals
Every private listing surfaces a Certified Dealer Alternative (Trust-Bridge) and may surface insurance and finance partner offers. These are paid placements. CivicCars discloses sponsorship clearly. Users transact directly with the third party. CivicCars does not provide financial advice, credit assistance, or insurance advice.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, CivicCars’ aggregate liability to any user is limited to the fees paid to CivicCars by that user in the 12 months preceding the relevant claim. Nothing in these terms excludes the consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
9. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, are flagged for fraud, or are required to be removed by law. You can close your account at any time from Account > Settings.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
