What’s in the A$9 pack
- Government ID verification — drivers licence, passport, or Australian national identity document via biometric liveness check.
- PPSR check — the full Personal Property Securities Register search by VIN, returning money-owing, written-off, and stolen status.
- Ownership cross-check — we match the registered owner’s name on rego to the verified seller identity.
- Verified badge — applied to the listing and seller profile across CivicCars.
Why A$1 + A$9 (not A$10 flat)?
The A$1 entry is a deliberate spam filter. It keeps drive-by listings out without burning serious sellers. The A$9 covers the actual cost of the PPSR query plus our biometric provider. CivicCars does not mark up the PPSR fee.
How long does verification take?
Most sellers are verified inside 15 minutes. Edge cases (expired IDs, rego mismatch) are reviewed manually by our Trust & Safety team within 24 hours.
What if PPSR shows money owing?
Listings with money owing on the title can’t be marked Verified. The seller can still list, but the listing carries a clear “encumbered title” warning so the buyer knows what to negotiate. The seller can re-verify after settling the loan.
Refunds
The PPSR portion (A$9) is non-refundable because we pay the regulator the moment we run it. The A$1 entry fee is refunded automatically if your listing is rejected during moderation.
Dealer verification
Dealers verify once at signup — we check the ABN, motor-dealer licence, and statutory warranty obligations. Dealer verification is included in the A$499/month subscription.
